Profiles of the current branches of study:

Branch of Study: Applied Informatics in Transport

The Bachelor course Applied Informatics in Transport is mainly focused on the field of information technologies from the viewpoint of information processing methods, programming languages, database building and administration, system analysis application, network administration and operation. The essential range of interdisciplinary knowledge is provided within the modules of university mathematics and statistics, economics, management, and marketing. Specialized transport courses enable students to gain expert knowledge in transport.  During their studies students also undergo a professional practice aimed at the practical use of transfer and information technology. The graduates are able to realize and operate information systems in transport and their modules supporting administrative and management activities of transport companies and organizations. They can advance themselves in  professions such as a programmer analyst, a database and network administrator, an employee in the field of information services, design and operation departments of specialized SW companies, a dealer of HW and SW devices.

Branch of Study: Management, Marketing and Logistics in Transport

This course is focused on the modern fields of management, marketing and logistics in theory as well as in practice, with a special emphasis on the issues of transport. It is an opportunity for students to gain general knowledge in the field of transport through specialized subjects such as forwarding, transport technology and control, transport means, or transport infrastructure, in the context of basic economic disciplines such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, management, marketing, accounting or business economy. The study plan is conceived to deepen and intertwine knowledge of the individual scientific disciplines. This enables students not only to broaden their expert knowledge in technical education, but also to think in a wider context. The students also gain basic applied knowledge of operational analysis, informatics, mathematics or physics. The whole structure of the study is, moreover, supplemented with a study of foreign languages.  A graduate of the bachelor study programme Management, Marketing and Logistics in Transport is a professional, ready to solve tasks related to the problems of transport, transport systems and their processes. He or she has the necessary theoretical as well as practical knowledge from the technical and also economic point of view, enabling wide possibilities of employment. He/she could be employed in various positions and various types of transport companies, logistic as well as shipping firms or public and territorial administration institutions.

Branch of Study: Management of Electronic Communications and Postal Services

This course is aimed at providing basic theoretical knowledge in informatics, theory of management and decision making in the systems, techniques and technology in the postal services, management, marketing and logistics in communications, in telecommunications and telecommunication technology. It is completed with other disciplines important in practice, such as mechanization and automatization in the postal services, technology and management of postal operations, business economy etc. The graduates are able to solve problems related to professional work in  postal, express and messenger services and electronic communications (telephone and mobile operators, internet shops). They can find an employment not only with the providers of these services but also with  authorities, ministries, research institutions, etc.

Branch of Study: Transport Technology and Control

Specialization: Technology and Control of Transport Systems

The course systemically integrates technical and economic aspects of the transport process into complex knowledge of technology and control of transportation and conveyance. The theoretical basis of the study consists of operational research, transport technology, applied informatics, logistics, integrated transport systems, combined transport and economics. The development of legal awareness in transport is also part of the study programme. The study is focused on obtaining basic theoretical and practical knowledge with connection to their practical use in the field of operative management, at rationalization of transportation and conveyance processes on transport networks, preparation and evaluation of projects, including technological and economic analyses of transport systems and information technologies.

Specialization: Logistics Technologies

This Bachelor study programme with specialization “Logistics Technologies“ is focused on obtaining theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of logistics for supplier and distribution chains management. The theoretical and practical basis of the study is broadened with the knowledge from the branch of supply management, technology of cargo and warehouse operations and used manipulation means and from the field of technology and control of processes in logistics centres. Also legal aspects in logistics technologies are part of the specialization. The subject matter of logistics technologies is protection and realization of material flow, i. e. planning and operative activity necessary for supplying the place of destination.

Branch of Study: Transport Means

Specializations: Road Vehicles/ Rail Vehicles/ Environmental Protection in Transport

Transport Means focuses upon solving problems of road and railway transport means, their construction, operational use, maintenance, repair, and also on their influence on the environment and protection of the environment in transport. The theoretical preparation is completed with professional internships, which follow the taught professional subjects and acquaint the student with specific problems occuring in practice. Attention is also paid to problems of construction materials in transport and new technologies in production or maintenance of transport means. During the study of the influence of transport on the environment students also gain necessary laboratory skills and related legal awareness. Based on the basic theoretical knowledge acquired in coursework, the emphasis is laid on acquiring practical knowledge and experience.  On the job market the graduates can represent himself or herself especially as a technician in the field of operation, maintenance and repair of transport means, in the field of analysis and restricting of transport means influence on the environment. The graduates are also able to work in construction offices or run their own business. Moreover, they can manage small groups of staff. They can work in companies dealing with the operation of railway, road, and municipal public transport, and in the facilities performing repairs and reconstruction of vehicles.

Branch of Study: Electrical Engineering and Electronic Systems in Transport

This course is focused on power networks and systems, electrical drives and traction in railway, road, tram, trolleybus transport, and in metro, safety system in railway transport, autotronics and diagnostics of road vehicles. This specialization provides a complex view of the problem of electrical engineering networks, devices and systems in the transport network. The study contains wider expert electrical engineering base, and by selecting alternative subjects the students can deal with e.g. energetics, security systems, or automobile systems in more depth.  The graduates are able to independently solve  practical problems in operation and management of electrical engineering devices, possibly occuring during their production or design in the field of transport and communications, energetics, electrical drives and power electronics. They usually find employment in train, automobile and other types of transport, energetics and at producers and operators of communication devices and systems not only in transport. The graduates can also work in technical control of production or in technical control stations and other testing institutions.  At the moment, there is a great demand for graduates of this study branch.

Branch of Study: Transport Construction

The course prepares university educated experts in the field of civil engineering. The study plans are composed of theoretical subjects of a general base as well as technical subjects so that graduates find employment in the middle management and in organizations participating in construction activities aimed at transport constructions. The students` knowledge is complemented with professional practice. The graduate masters technical calculations, has the knowledge needed for communication in at least one world language, knows construction law, civil law and is able to apply information technology programmes in his field. He or she masters operational and technological processes during the construction of transport structures and is able to interpret and apply results of common research, and follow the professional literature in the field of transport constructions. The graduate is further able to solve problems related to reconstructions and repairs occuring in transport constructions, including their ecological aspects. The graduates assert themselves in the production sphere, where they can work in preparing construction, as construction site managers, construction supervisors of the investor or as budget experts. Jobs can be found at construction offices, construction and design institutions.  After completing the conditions defined by the Act No.360/1992 Coll., the graduates can take an exam to become an authorized engineer in construction.

The knowledge gained within each branch of the Bachelor study programmes creates a prerequisite for continuing in a follow-up Master study programme of  the same or related specialization.
