Study programme: | Transport Structures |
Study specialization: | Transport Structures |
Form of study: | full-time, distance-study |
Standard length of study: | 4 years |
Characteristics of the specialization:
The bachelor's four-year programme will prepare you in both theory and practice. You will become a technician who can independently and promptly solve assigned tasks related to design activities or management of sub-sections of civil engineering construction, such as bridge structures, railway structures and roads. We have new modern laboratories where you will be able to perform and evaluate experiments and tests within the vocational study courses. In our computer classrooms we will teach you how to work with special programs used in the constructions. But you will get onto construction sites, too. We will take you to building sites in order to ensure you can meet with experts and practitioners in cooperation with the Transport Structures.
Theoretical background
The study is based on subjects of theoretical foundation such as mathematics, physics, theory of elasticity and strength and structural mechanics. You will also learn a lot of information about building materials and structures, geotechnics, geodesy, building law, etc.
Practical application of acquired knowledge
You will acquire the theoretical and practical skills that you will apply in practice in the framework of specialized vocational subjects such as railway constructions, roads and highways, local roads, reconstruction and maintenance of railway constructions and roads, construction and reconstruction of bridges or even financing of traffic constructions. These include:
- Design of new bridge structures and conversion of existing bridge structures,
- designing of roads,
- design of railway constructions,
- planning of maintenance and diagnostics of traffic structures,
- geotechnical testing,
- operational and technological procedures in the construction of transport structures,
- Inspection of traffic constructions,
- construction supervision,
- realization of transport constructions,
- budgeting in the KROS programme.
Relation to the study practice
Speakers will also be experts from practice. In addition, lessons take place in specialized laboratories and computer labs. As a student you will be able to participate in the realization of projects and teaching is also in the field. You will be able to apply your acquired knowledge and skills to professional excursions, practices and internships in one of the many partner companies that our department will provide for you.
Graduate employment
After graduation you will have a large choice of employment opportunities, whether as a worker focused on engineering activities, operational technician in managerial positions in traffic construction, designer in the field of traffic construction, worker of construction offices, or employee of design and design institutes. In the manufacturing sector, you can work very well, for example, in the position of building preparation, section manager, budget manager or construction supervisor, or bridge manager.
