Collection characteristics
The collection of the Department of Transport Structures of the Faculty of Transport Engineering of the University of Pardubice is located in the DA building. It comprises minerals and rocks, primarily serving for the teaching of geology at the Department of Transport Structures (DTS). The historical base of the collection is comprised of the rock collection of the Railway Regiment No. 1, located in Pardubice in the period of 1918 to 1939. Later (in the course of the location of the collection at the DTS), the collection was supplemented by acquisitions taking into account the needs of teaching and occasional donations of lecturers and students. From 2021 to 2023, the collection was substantially expanded to cover all types of rocks and soils that are important for construction of transport structures. Collection exhibits and samples intended for practical procedures of their identification are available to the students.
