The project is focused on the resilience and operational safety of the rail network, as one of the crucial elements of the transport route reliability, where increased transport speed changes the demands on renewal methods and the criteria for materials and technologies used. The predictive approach to the renovation of rail profiles is based on the innovation of contact surface materials and reprofiling technologies. The aim is to achieve increased wear resistance, prior to the defects initiation that presents an unacceptable operational risk. The solution will be based on the implementation of advanced methods for the creation of functional-gradient materials, designed specifically for the contact-fatigue process.
