The goal of the project is the development and verification of a semi-actively (S/A) controlled damping system for a single deck EMU, based on fast S/A dampers, which will replace the conventional suspension damping. The controlled suspension of the train unit will allow to achieve an increase in ride comfort and it could contribute to decrease negative dynamic effects in vehicle/track interaction. The optimization of dynamic behaviour of the train unit will contribute to an increase in the quality of rail transport in terms of higher transport speeds with a high comfort level and decreasing damaging effects of rolling stock on track. Therefore, the project meets the programme objectives of the 'Sustainable Transport' call.
