eng	Realization of New Techniques in the Rail Passenger Transport in the German Federal Republic	High labour costs drive the carriers to innovations, which could cut these costs. They are mostly concerned on the substitution of the human labour with the technology. This paper is dealing with these fields: ? Reduction of the train staff - setting up of conductors on some trains. Utilization of technical appliances which inform the driver about safe completion of boarding. ? Usage of self-service ticket dispensing machines - ticket machines at stations, on platforms and in trains. Complementary services offered by the machines. ? Stops on demand - utilization of technical appliances which inform the driver about the request for stopping. The stop can be requested by passangers in the train as well as by passangers on the halt. ? Progressive transport system Call-a-Bike - a self-service bike rental run by the German Railways.
