eng History and Development of Intermodal Transport in the Czech Republic The paper deals with history and development of combined transport in the Czech Republic territory (former Czechoslovak Republic). Combined transport was oriented particularly on freight transportation in ISO line 1 containers until 1987. Since this same time has been starting other intermodal handling unit ? swap-body. Early 1990s was put into practice the first pilot transportation (between Czech Republic and Austria) of new system ? accompanying intermodal transport road-railway, named ? Rollende Landstrasse ? RoLa? ? mobile road. Czech Intermodal Association ARIP has been found in aid of development of combined transport in September 1998.The last part of papers is directed to present situation and perspective of intermodal transport in the Czech Republic after its join to EU.
