cze	EXPERIMENTS IN SUBVALENT ORGANOTIN CHEMISTRY	This paper will focus on the following new crystalline organic tin compounds 1 ˇV 7. The diamagnetic, diradicaloid singlet ring compound 1 is of interest as the first alternating heteroatom analogue of a cyclobuta-1,3-dienediide, prepared from [Sn(NR2)(?Ý-Cl)]2 and AgOCN (R = SiMe3). Treatment of 2 with KC8 afforded the cluster compound 7 Sn9(SnY)6 [Y = N(R)C6H3Pri2-2,6] (the central tin atom is formally 14-coordinate); related reactions with other amidotin(II) chlorides will be described. The trimethylsilyl groups at the N atoms of 3a provide not only substantial steric shielding at Sn, but also are sequentially readily removable protecting groups, yielding 3b or 3c. The mechanism of Cl/Br exchange between 4a and 4b will be discussed. The Sn=E oxidative adducts 5 and 6 of 4c were obtained from 4c + E (E = S or Se).	Low valency, organotin
