eng	Development of the Higher Service Life Bainitic Steel for the Railway Crossings	In this report the readings have been evaluated primarily to analyse work loaded sections with the aim to define the actual degradation causing mechanism of the travel area. Purpose of the presented analysis was to put forward a meaningful picture of internal reaction of material, at a particular work load, on which typical signs of surface damage are noticed. Findings of actual degradation mechanism at macroscopic scale deriving from signs of wear at contact area, are directed towards prediction of service life in real conditions.	surface damage, railway crossings, contact fatigue, bainitic steel
