eng Damage in fiber reinforced concrete beams Fiber reinforced concrete becomes very popular in certain types of concrete structures, such as tunnel lining constructions, ground of industry halls, foundation engineering and others. A choice of material and shape of fibers are important for behavior of the system from the view of accumulation of stress causing local cracking. It was shown that a local weakening of sample beams causes unpredictable course of cracks and basically affects the bearing capacity of structures. Dramix type of fibers is used for explanation of crack nucleation in beam samples. These types are compared with polypropylene fibers, which are curvilinear as Dramix fibers. The difference consists in stiffness of both materials. The different local weakening is created to get knowledge - from both experimental and theoretical studies. Numerical analysis starts with Desai´s simplified theory of both plasticity and damage.
