eng HTML5 and CSS3 - Creating web pages In consequence of the development of web technologies, an HTML markup language (HyperText Markup Language) has become insufficient especially in the area of web page semantics and multimedia support. The producers of browsers started to offer various plug-ins and non-standardized methods of achieving the required effects. The aim of HTML5 is the standardization of those technologies, subsequently enabling a uniform code syntax. This publication presents a current overview (2013) of the upcoming HTML5 and CSS3 (Cascading Style Sheets) standards' support in the most popular browsers (Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Android for mobile devices). It describes the changes in HTML5 in comparison with HTML4, new elements and HTML5 API (Application Programming Interface). This publication also explains new selectors of CSS3, prefixes of the properties being developed, new properties and property code generators. It also gives prospects for the future development of CSS. HTML5; CSS3;
