eng Post-Earthquake Repair of the Substandard Beam-Column Joint by CFRPs The efficacy of post-earthquake repair using carbon fiber-reinforced polymer sheets (CFRPs) in pre-damaged RC beam-column joint is investigated as a member repairing technique. A full-scale test specimen, which represents the exterior RC beam-column connection taken from inflection points of the frame, is utilized. The test specimen has certain deficiencies at joint level such as absence of the shear reinforcement, improper material quality including low strength concrete and the presence of plain round reinforcement bars. The test specimen was first subjected to quasi-static cyclic loading in the laboratory and then it was structurally repaired by CFRPs after a certain level of damage. The same test protocol was yet again repeated for the repaired specimen. After testing the specimen, it is found that the reference specimen displayed a brittle type of failure due to the severe damage in the joint, while the rest of the components were slightly damaged. In the repaired specimen, the ultimate load bearing capacity was nearly enhanced but not fully improved to its initial strength obtained in the experiment of reference specimen. The former capacity of the joint was tried to be recovered by the application of CFRPs on the damaged member. CFRP, beam-column joint, post-earthquake, structural repair
