eng	Targeted transport infrastructure building to significantly increase of modal split for public passenger transport in a chosen city	The paper deals with the problematic of effectiveness of transport infrastructure building in Istanbul as the largest Turkish city. There was a significant increase of modal split for public passenger transport at the expense of individual car traffic in his city - it has been achieved after putting into operation of the long-planned railway tunnel between the European and Asian parts of Istanbul.
