eng Fracture toughness of dual phase DP450 steel using the essential work of fracture method Demand for reduction of weight of the vehicle is increasing in the automotive industry. This move brought the new advanced high strength steels to the automotive body components and dual phase steel is one of them. Fracture toughness determination of dual phase steel DP450 is the major focus of this work. Essential work of fracture (EWF) method is used in determining the fracture toughness of thin sheets in the plane stress condition. Double edge notched tensile (DENT) specimens without fatigue pre-crack is used. The microstructure of the steel and fracture toughness values are analysed comprehensively. Essential work of fracture (EWF); double edge notch tensile (DENT); DP450
