eng	Railway Transport Role in Conurbations	The paper deals with meaning of railway transport for public passenger transport service in conurbation, with main emphasis on Prague. The historical development of railway in Prague in this point of view is mentioned in the paper. There is mentioned the contribution of railway in extra-ordinary service substituting flooded underground lines in the year 2002 and next to it there is the comparison of travel times on selected relations with using of railway and with using of public passenger transport system only. The planned railway lines configuration in Prague and some measurements for increasing of meaning of railway in Prague (e.g. improved-frequecy time schedule, new stops, usage of freight railway lines on the south of Prague) are mentioned on the end of the paper.
