Faculty of Transport Engineering of the University of Pardubice succeeded in the 2nd public competition of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under the Ministry of Transport´s DOPRAVA (Transport) 2030 programme. Starting in January next year, a team composed of experts from the Department of Transport Means and Diagnostics, Rail Vehicles Department will begin working on an applied research project, which builds on long-term cooperation with partners from Brno University of Technolgy and DT – Výhybkárna a strojírna, a.s. (turnout producer, the main project leader).
Railway switches with movable point frogs (MPF) are increasingly being used. For high-speed rail (HSR), this design will be the only possible option. At the same time, limiting personnel entry into HSR during operation, including maintenance and inspection staff, will be desirable. Therefore, the project aims to develop a device for autonomous comprehensive diagnostics of switches with MPF frogs. The diagnostic system and its components will be installed in the frog and switch areas, and the operational condition of important movable parts and the adjacent regions will be autonomously diagnosed. The device will be based on vehicle-track dynamic response sensing. A database will be established, an autonomous system for data collection and transfer will be designed, and evaluation software based on machine learning, including a user interface, will be developed.
Congratulations!
