Engineering, Technology and Management of Air Transport

Study programme: Engineering, Technology and Management of Air Transport

Type of study: Bachelor, vocational

Form of study: full-time

The standard period of study: 3 years

Specialization characteristics

The study aims to prepare students for regulated professions in airlines. Graduates will be able to obtain, voluntarily, the professional licenses necessary for the profession. Since most of the professions in aviation are regulated, the study system will meet the requirements and standards of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) contained in separate documents of the Jan Perner Faculty of Transport and confirmed by the issued Aircraft Maintenance Training and Examination Certificates (MTO) and Airplane and Helicopter Pilot Training (ATO). The study aims to provide the necessary theoretical and practical training for university-educated professionals for the performance of regulated professions in airlines with the possibility of working in professional and middle management positions. The study focuses on theoretical subjects, professional subjects and practical skills. All graduates must have a good knowledge of general and professional English.

Theoretical background

Knowledge in theoretical disciplines of aircraft engineering, such as aerodynamics, flight mechanics, engine theory, aviation materials, aircraft manufacturing technology, aircraft operations, navigation and flight control systems, avionics and instrumentation, aircraft maintenance and others. Together with language preparation, they will provide students with a broad overview of the studied field of aviation and good preparation for entry into practice.

Practical application of acquired knowledge

The curriculum includes the completion of a compulsory professional practice. The professional practice aims to verify and apply knowledge and skills that students acquire in the classroom. The internship prepares you for the profession after graduation and allows an easier transition into practice while gaining the required experience during your studies. Furthermore, you can gain information that can be used to prepare your bachelor's thesis or find your future employer.

Relation to practice in studies

Compulsory professional practice in selected companies (12 weeks of 40 hours each), solving specific projects from practice in the classroom, experts' participation in teaching vocational subjects and workshops, the possibility of further practical teaching and internships in companies (beyond compulsory practice), assigning bachelor theses directly by companies or state administration institutions.

Graduate employment

Aeroplane and helicopter pilot,

aircraft maintenance technician,

air traffic controller,

professional or middle managerial positions in air transport, state administration institutions, armed forces of the Czech Republic using aircraft technology, institutions engaged in professional investigation of the causes of air accidents, or organizations providing development, production or operation of aircraft technology for sport and recreational flying.
