Solve Urban Mobility Challenge

This course is a single-problem, gamified design challenge. It will focus on the connections among the environmental, economic, social, and institutional aspects of sustainable mobility, developing practical skills through gamification and building competencies based on the Green Game framework. All teams will work on the same real problem in Pardubice, which will allow direct comparison of approaches and place the competitive edge in analysis quality and solution insight rather than in the choice of topic.

Hack the Movement - Analyse, Design, Validate, Deliver

The goal is to connect the environmental, economic, social and institutional aspects of sustainable mobility with practical skills through gamification, and to develop competencies in accordance with the Green Game framework.

The programme is designed as a game with progressive levels. The criteria and point system for assessing team projects will be shared with students in advance, so everyone knows what is expected before the course starts. Throughout the course - in both the online and on-site phases - students can draw on a shared digital library of resources and consultations with the instructors.

Who is it for?

Undergraduate and postgraduate students who want to prepare for international study abroad. Students interested in exploring different cultures. Students who want to gain new skills to succeed in a globalised society. Students who want to develop green competencies through a hands-on mobility design challenge and contribute to positive changes in their regions and cities.

How does it work?

6 weeks of online self-study with weekly virtual consultations and social interaction, followed by 5 days of in-person work between instructors and participants in Pardubice, including the social programme.

The online phase will use creative-thinking tools, combining practical teamwork, role-playing and problem-solving. This work feeds into a structured field research stage conducted during the offline phase.

The offline phase will include daily work in and outside the classroom, including teamwork on the University of Pardubice campus and in the city of Pardubice to solve a real, shared problem. The course closes with the presentation of the final team projects.

What students receive?

6 ECTS credits, a chance to explore Pardubice and the Czech Republic, and an international team experience with a social programme.
