eng Dynamic behaviour of locomotive with pendulum traction drive This paper deals with dynamic behaviour of a locomotive equipped with so-called pendulum traction drive. It means that the traction unit is suspended in the bogie frame in such a way that the pendulous motion of this unit allows compensating of hunting motion of the bogie at higher speeds. The locomotive with pendulum traction drive is compared with a similar locomotive (i.e. with analogous parameters), which is – however – equipped with bogies with rigidly supported traction motors, especially from the point of view of vehicle running stability. Besides to that, an influence of further parameters (stiffness of wheelset guiding, stiffness of suspension of the traction unit and characteristics of yaw dampers) is also observed by means of multi-body simulations of running behaviour of the investigated vehicle. pendulum traction drive; direct drive; electric locomotive; running behaviour; multi-body simulations
